Barbed Wire is born
A Illinois cattleman by the name of Joseph Glidden invented modern barbed wire in 1874. Made of two strands of intertwined wire connected at intervals by points of twisted metal. It was originally used to prevent livestock from escaping. Before barbed wire cattle could feel themselves from a wire by simply pressing against it.
